KIRKWOOD MOVES FORWARD WITH MULTI YEAR MOUNTAIN DEVELOPMENT PLAN
Tahoe’s #1 Rated Overall Mountain Experience To Become Even More Spectacular

(Kirkwood Mountain Resort, Kirkwood, Calif.) One of North America’s most highly acclaimed mountain resorts is taking on a whole new look. Rated among the nation’s elite for over two decades by national media, Kirkwood Mountain Resort is planning to install new lifts, lodges and new lift-served terrain to create an even more spectacular mountain experience. The resort is moving towards the completion of its original development plan from the early 1970’s with its most significant improvements since the opening of its famous Wagon Wheel Bowl in 1984.

“We are bringing to life resort improvements that will take Kirkwood to an entirely new level of mountain experience,“ said Charles ”Chuck” Cobb, the resort’s major shareholder and Chairman for the past 12 years.

Kirkwood is known for America’s deepest and Tahoe’s best snow quality at one of the most scenic high alpine valleys in North American skiing. Skiing Magazine readers recognized Kirkwood as one of the top resorts in the nation (November 2006). Ranked Overall as the 12th Resort in the Country, Kirkwood leads Lake Tahoe’s South Shore resorts with a top position. The resort also earned a spot in the magazine as a ‘Top 5 Powder Stashes You Must Visit’ and ‘#1 in California.’

“While the overall plan will take place over the next several years, each year will see significant improvement,” said David Likins, chief executive officer for Kirkwood. “Phase I was completed in 2005, with the installation of the Timber Creek Express. Phase II was this past summer, with the replacement of the old Timber Creek Lodge, built in 1976, with two modern tent structures to house all of the Timber Creek skier/boarder services. Phase III, scheduled for the summer of 2007, includes the beginning of the Emigrant Basin improvements with installations of two surface lifts to new lift accessed terrain, Lookout Vista and Fawn Ridge, plus the installation of a new power line to service the Sunrise Express High Speed Quad, anticipated in the summer of 2008 along with the Caples Crest lift from the Mountain Village to the top of the ridge where the existing Chair #2 now unloads. We will continue to make improvements each year well into the next decade, as Kirkwood takes its place among the best regional resorts in North America.”

“Kirkwood has always been about world class snow and terrain, and we are doing what few resorts in the nation can do - adding lift service to terrain currently within our USFS boundary but accessible only by hiking. This is a very key component of our long term strategy, to always maintain a true sense of openness and lack of crowding even when we reach full build out of our community,” stated Chip Seamans, Kirkwood’s new general manager & chief operating officer. The amount of new lift serviced terrain opening at Kirkwood is carefully planned to outpace the numbers of people experiencing the resort in the future.

“Our loyal customers are no longer the only ones who recognize Kirkwood is poised to become a premier resort in the Tahoe region and a top exclusive resort in North America,” said Likins. “Our time is now and we’re becoming a world-class mountain and snow experience with residential options,” he continued.

Kirkwood is located along scenic highway 88, easily accessible with privacy, exclusivity and phenomenal natural beauty. There is a unique sense of community and this life style priority will soon be the determining factor that allows Kirkwood to outpace other resorts that can’t begin to offer this whole package.
